REVIEWERS' GUIDE
DEFINITION OF PEER-REVIEW
The Quadrant complies with the definition of peer-review as set by the World Association of Medical Editors.
THE ROLE OF PEER-REVIEWERS
Reviewers who are invited by the editors are supposed to review a manuscript taking into consideration the following points:
The manuscript's title is clear and concise.
The topic of research addresses a valid research gap.
The topic of research is within the scope of the journal.
The format of the abstract is as per the journal's requirements.
All keywords mentioned are MeSH terms.
The introduction summarizes the current knowledge of the topic. Historical backgrounds on a subject are encouraged.
The study design is clearly stated.
The presentation of data (tables, figures) should be distinct.
Trial registration numbers or Institutional Ethics Committee or Institution Review Board number should be mentioned.
Pre-registration of clinical protocol must be accessible (e.g. PROSPERO, OSF).
Reference style must be consistent and in line with the journal's requirements.
Any citation to a predatory journal must be discouraged.
All manuscripts must state the reporting guidelines that they have followed.
Review articles must have a mandatory table regarding the search strategy and the databases that the authors have accessed.
Below par grammar, syntax, and semantics are usually subject to editorial desk rejection. However, reviewers are free to address if they feel the language is inappropriate for the reader to understand.
